Text Analysis
Taking Your Character from Words on a Page to the Floor of the Stage

Instructor: Kim Bromley
Dates/Times:  Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm March 4th - March 25th
Price: $10/class

Class Description:
(Drop In Accepted)
You think you’ve read the play, but can you answer some basic questions about the character(s) you’re creating: Who is the protagonist? Is that the same as the main character? What do the characters want? When/where in the script do the characters pivot? Do they pivot at all? Does it matter? In this class we will examine what (good) writers do to empower your choices. We’ll talk about story structure and why it’s important for understanding the characters - especially yours. How are your choices driven by the text? Can you defend your choices based on the text? And best of all, how you can steal the show without grandstanding. We’ll explore a well known play (TBD) and any material students want to bring to class to further their goals.

Kim Bromley has taught stage & body movement, children's theater, Interpretive reading, film production. She is also a director, actor, writer and producer.
