Meet the Band
Daniel Savio (Music Director & Keyboard) has music directed numerous production with MMTC including The Rocky Horror Show and Rent. Daniel started his professional theater career with the Tony-winning political musical theater company the San Francisco Mime Troupe playing keyboards during their 2006 and 2007 tours. He was co-composer/lyricist, with SFMT vet Bruce Barthol, of the play FSM ('14, Stagebridge Senior Theater), written by fellow SFMT vet Joan Holden. He returned to the Mime Troupe band in 2015 and has been with the company ever since. In 2020 he became the Troupe's resident Composer/Lyricist and most recently wrote lyrics and music for the Troupe's 2023 musical Breakdown. Daniel has been musical director of numerous community and children's productions at theaters in the North and East Bay. Last year, Daniel was musical director of the Mountain Play's production of Kinky Boots. Daniel has a BA in Music from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
Dean Cook (Drums) is a drummer based in Marin County. He has played in a number of MMTC shows including Spring Awakening, Legally Blonde, Rent, and The Rocky Horror Show, as well as other local theater productions including A Christmas Carol, The Addams Family, Something Rotten and many more. He also plays in the local band Book of Birds.
Jon Bretan (Bass) is a bassist, guitarist, and pianist/keyboardist who is often found playing for North Bay musical theater, usually when his wife is not starring in a show. He grew up playing bass and piano in the school jazz bands in Novato, and played guitar and bass for UC Jazz Ensembles while studying physics and astronomy at UC Berkeley. His main gig is teaching astronomy, engineering, and physics, and coaching cross country and track, at Marin Academy in San Rafael. Most recently he played for The Rocky Horror Show (MMTC at NTC), Little Shop of Horrors (6th Street Playhouse), The Addams Family (NTC), Les Misérables and Guys and Dolls (Throckmorton). Last fall, a highlight for Jon was playing lead guitar for a few of the Beautiful: The Carole King Musical shows at Spreckels in Rohnert Park, where his wife, Julianne, starred as Carole King. Jon combines his musical and physics worlds by building and repairing guitars and related instruments, and you can see some of his work, or reach him, on Instagram @trailsnphotons.
Malik Charles D. Wade I (Reed) is a Novato Native. He graduated from Sonoma State University in 2018 with his Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education, and earned his teaching credential from the same university in 2020. Wade teaches Band at White Hill Middle School in Fairfax. This is Malik's third show with MMTC, performing on stage in Rent and in the band in The Rocky Horror Show. Malik is especially proud of his three pink suits in the shades of rose, berry, and wine.
Megan Schoenbohm (Accordion) is an Actor-Musician who can be seen on stage in this production as Fraulein Fritzie Kost. Megan began playing piano by ear at the age of 3 and since then has studied drums, mallet percussion, and flute. She taught herself oboe, English horn, guitar, and bass, and - specifically for this show - the accordion. Megan is a 2004 graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston with a degree in Music Therapy. In 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 Megan was awarded by the Bay Area Parent Magazine as Best of the Best for "Local Family Entertainment," "Birthday Party Entertainment," "Music Class," and "Hidden Gem."
