Kitty’s first theatrical experience was performing as a cheerleader for the San Francisco 49er’s. Entertaining at a stadium with 50,000 cheering fans is truly an awesome experience.
She first stepped on stage in 1977 at the Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco (this was prior to its big renovation in preparation for professional companies). The show was “Sweet Charity”. She was forever hooked on singing, dancing and acting.
Over the years, Kitty has performed in about 70 shows throughout the Bay Area. One of her favorite groups is Mt. Play where she performed in “Anything Goes”, “Wizard of Oz”, “Oklahoma” and “Bye Bye Birdie”. Mt. Play is truly a unique and awesome experience. “Not only are we performing outdoors to a crowd of 4,000 people” Kitty says, “but where else could you have a vintage touring car, a coach with horses or a motorcycle on stage”.
Theatre companies around the Bay Area Kitty has performed with include College of Marin, Ross Valley Players, Contemporary Opera Marin, Santa Rosa Junior College, Contra Costa Musical Theatre. Another group Kitty has performed with is Woodminster located in the Oakland hills. Her shows included “Me and My Girl”, “Good News” and “Will Rogers Follies”. The upstage half of the set for Follies was a huge staircase. The opening number, Kitty describes, “there were 30 of us doing a tap dance routine up and down the stairs – boy was that cool”. Kitty has also performed in a number of Marilyn Izdebski Productions including “Anything Goes”, “Guys n Dolls”, “Once Upon a Mattress”, “Pajama Game”. “42nd Street” was by far her favorite show of all time – lots of tap dancing.
When Kitty isn’t singing, dancing and acting her profession for 30 years was travel as a cruise consultant (sailing on about 10 cruises), group travel coordinator and tour director. Kitty has escorted groups to destinations throughout the world.
