Acting the Song
Time: Wednesdays at 4:30-6:00pm

Whether you are an "actor who sings", or a "singer who acts", or just looking for a creative way to express yourself in Covid times, this is a must take class! Any interesting performance or audition should have a practiced balance of vocal technique and acting in order to be truly captivating, so we will work on how these disciplines come together and help each other. We will explore how to approach acting a song, whether as a character or as yourself, and how to use your voice and body to tell a story. Students will learn practical exercises and tools for physical and vocal expression, work on text and musical analysis specific to performing a song, and learn from each other in a supportive and casual environment. Above all the focus will be on creativity and adventurous expression. Good for all experience levels!
Instructor Qualifications:
National Tours: Once, Charlie Brown Christmas
BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State University
Other credits include: many principal roles in shows at regional theaters across the country, lead soloist on Aida Cruiseline, symphony soloist, recording artist, and experienced private voice teacher/coach
